Weekly Thought

The source of grace?

When God emptied Himself into Jesus.

And Jesus emptied Himself on the Cross.

“Have this mind among yourselves, which

You have in Christ Jesus, who though He

Was in the form of God. . . . . emptied

Himself. . . . and became obedient unto

death, even death on a cross.”

Philippians 2: 5-8. RSV

David Marshall’s “God’s little book of Grace”

COME TO ME

I am reaching for you with hands of love
You think of Me as in heaven above
But I’m near in spirit and right by your side
Ready to comfort, to plead and to guide

I have long sought the chance for time to spend
So you talk to Me as friend to friend
I will never use force but freely give
What I earned by My blood – the right to forgive

But you do not come and with burdens draw nigh
You look and ponder – turn away with a sigh
Shoulder your cares and carry your load
As heavier it gets on the uphill road

I continue to hold out My hands and plead
Pray that My children recognise their need
That you might have life and will come to Me
And coming - receive life abundant and free.

John Chapter 10 verse 10
The thief cometh not; but for to steal,
and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that
they might have life, and that they
might have it more abundantly.
KING JAMES VERSION

V.L.BUCHAN

THE INVITATION
If Satan is saying you’ve left it too late
Neglected your God far too long
If he is saying you’ve sealed your fate
He is telling lies – and he’s wrong

If he should whisper that God’s roving eye
Is watching to see if you fall
That God looks down from his throne room on high
And is petty, and picky, and small

There’s no truth at all in his blatant lies
And his poisonous darts miss the mark
For our God of love is patient and wise
Shun Satan - and turn from the dark

Jesus came here to seek and to save
Not to pick faults and to chide
Repentant sinners He freely forgave
Both Father and Son on our side

Whoever is lost They seek to redeem
Salvation was planned most clearly about
Jesus the willing lamb in the scheme
To get us to heaven – not keep us out.

Luke chapter 19 verse 10
“For the Son of Man came to
seek and to save what was lost.”
New International Version

Luke chapter15 verses 4 to 7
Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses
one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in
the open country and go after the lost sheep until
he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts
it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his
friends and neighbours together and says, ‘Rejoice
with me, I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that
in the same way there is more rejoicing in heaven
over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine
righteous persons who do not need to repent.

New International Version
